Helping to bring freedom from debt, hope for the future and to          put lives back together

Community Money Advice Connect Bishop’s Stortford is a voluntary organisation staffed by a trained team of volunteer Christian money mentors.

All advice is free.

We have been helping people in the town since 2009 as the Bishop’s Stortford Money Advice Service.  On July 1st 2020 we became a Community Money Advice Connect Centre. CMA is a national charity www.communitymoneyadvice.com

We offer face to face non-judgmental help and are supported by local churches. We are an associate member of Churches Together Bishop’s Stortford www.ctbs.org.uk

We can only offer help on personal debt in accordance with UK law.  If you have business debts free advice can be obtained from the national charity  Business Debtline www.businessdebtline.org

We comply with GDPR and all information held is stored under Data Protection law guidelines.

We Can Help You To

  • Look at how much money is coming in and going out
  • Check benefit entitlement
  • Look at ways to increase your income, reduce your spending and get better value for money
  • Create a budget so that you can take better control of your finances for the future
  • If you have debts, we will help you to list them and access debt advice from the CMA (Community Money Advice) Hub
  • If you are happy to accept the advice from the CMA Hub, they will contact your creditors with a financial statement and negotiate with them about the next steps
  • We can then help you to put into practice the plan the CMA Hub have produced for you
